"There goes the Neighborhood..."

There are several things that are bound to happen when two groups come together to inhabit the same area. First of all, as a result of the two groups coexisting within the same space, they are more likely than not to interact. One positive result of this is that the exchange of ideas between the two group that may help benefit both groups. As an example, technologies can be shared between the two groups to make both groups more efficient, giving time to do other things, which may include leisurely activities, such as the arts. If the arts arises, then the groups' culture can be said to be "flourishing." In addition to this, both groups may benefit if they collectively work together to support both groups, both groups becoming more efficient, giving more time that may be used for leisure activities. A negative that may result from this forced interaction is that if one group moves in, the original group now has to compete for resources with the new group, especially if resources are scarce. Such resources and necessities include things like water, land, and resources on the land. There is also the possibility of the spread of disease both ways, as was the case when the Europeans came into contact with the Native Americans, though immunity and therefore the ability to fight off the disease may arise. Also a negative, if one group finds the other group unfavorable, or assumes the other group's intentions are unfavorable to them, violence or unpleasantness between the two groups may erupt.
